Now, for the 100-some-odd-albums-that-no-one-was-likely-to-buy-in-the-first-place question: what's your favorite album by OutKast? Remember, you can vote in the poll at the top of the page. Voting will be open for a week, so get voting! We'll announce the five favorites as soon as we get enough votes.
4:14 Scream will finally see the light of day on May 25, and will be available via download at iTunes and on CD at Amazon. You can listen to a rip of the album below, with the good news being that it sounds pretty good (at least if you're not too bothered by the crackling). There are no rumors yet of a release date for 4:26 Dream. I have my fingers crossed for October, though, as I do miss the days when 30-minute long albums were a thing.[34]
The album received four Grammy Award nominations, for Best Rap Album, Best Engineered Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap/Sung Performance. It won Best Rap Album. OutKast's performance at the Grammy Awards was well received.[62] The album received a further two nominations for best rap album and Album of the Year at the Source Awards, and won both. OutKast's performance at the Source Awards was also well received.[63]
The album sold 21,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, with first week sales of approximately 116,000 copies.[58] In its second week the album sold approximately 5,000 more copies.[59] As of February 2008, Stankonia has sold around 2 million copies.[60] According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album has been digitally downloaded 3,500 times as of January 2009.[61]
Although OutKast's previous album was considered to be a commercial success, Stankonia was considered a commercial flop. The album was not able to duplicate the pop success of Boom Boom or the platinum sales of Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Stankonia did sell over 1.
In addition to the album's numerous accolades, OutKast was also honored for their work in 2005 with the Grammy for Best Rap Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, one of only two hip hop acts to be nominated for the award, the other being Jay-Z's The Black Album.[10] Stankonia 827ec27edc
