The color correction tools in FCP are excellent, you just have to know how to use them and the scopes. You do not photographic style white point adjust such as used in iMovie, but you have complete image control of tonal ranges, color, and saturation. You just have to learn how video correction tools work. I'm not a great fan of the auto color balance. Personally it seems a little cold to me, plus it can vary quite a lot from shot to shot in the same scene.

Here you can see we have an indoor portrait with a rather nasty colour cast. This can happen with fluorescent lighting or even something simple like the cameraman getting the white balance or filter on the camera wrong. (It does happen!)

A risky but still effective way of compensating for the green color is to manually adjust the white balance settings in-camera. While the device may give you a presets for white balance such as daylight, indoors, or auto-calibration, you can access more advanced settings that allow you to fine-tune the overall color balance of the image more precisely. And yes, this is a viable option if you have the time to ensure your color balance is perfect, although Harv mentions it may be worth just correcting any errors in post.
