* Thumbnail caption texts, when enabled, will be displayed on the top of the image.* Thumbnails in category page can be linked to external website, or the gallery itself.* Albums can be linked to external website (something smart, like how flickr is linking to albums within album).* Albums can be linked directly to PhotoSwipe, so you can see if the image is available.* Title can be displayed on the top of the thumbnail or the slideshow.* Google fonts for title and caption.* Thumbnail captions can be disabled in admin panel.
Google Photos recently added the ability to use them as a source for your game's soundtrack. Most game music doesn't need to be high resolution, but Google Photos Music provides some options that are worth considering. The minimum quality is 192kb - a size you can upload in about 5 seconds. Google Photos is also a good option for your soundtrack of choice. The free version caps out at 10kbps, the paid version at 480kbps; both can be downloaded as a ZIP file. You can choose the length (approximate value), res (image width and height), and bitrate (the quality of the file).
Unlike previous Google Photos apps, the new Android app offers a gallery view for photos. Just like you can in the iOS app, you can swipe through your images, choose a zoom level, and click the individual thumbnail to see the original image. You can open the full size image in the gallery or the camera, and tap to share the image.
The editing tools on Google Photos are, indeed, pretty weak compared to pro editing tools. If you need to import a picture or two from Google Photos into a desktop image editor, it's easy to download. For a single image, click the photo, then Download. The same goes for Albums (select Download All), or downloading multiple selected thumbnails. If you do it that way, you can only get 500 at a time; Google Photos provides them as a ZIP file.
One of the drawbacks to this approach was that we needed to recompile every time we made even a small change to the code. This slowed everything else we were doing down and because we couldn't always have someone waiting for the application to finish building. 827ec27edc
